Introduction
What is MCP?
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude use external tools and data sources. Instead of being limited to what the model already knows, MCP gives Claude the ability to call APIs, query databases, and interact with the software you use every day.
What does this server do?
The Loxo MCP Server connects Claude directly to your Loxo recruitment platform. Once installed, Claude can search your candidate database, pull up job pipelines, review activity history, log calls and meetings, and manage candidate records — all through natural conversation.
The server provides 27 tools covering the full recruiter workflow. Tool descriptions are written to guide Claude toward the most useful data: recruiter intake notes, call summaries, compensation expectations, and recent touchpoints. When you ask Claude to prepare a briefing or evaluate a candidate, it knows where to look.
What can you ask Claude to do?
Here are some examples of prompts that work well with the Loxo MCP Server:
- "Prepare a briefing pack for the Northvale role."
- "Give me a status update on all active candidates."
- "Who from our database would suit this new CFO role?"
- "What's the latest with Sarah — where did we leave things?"
- "Add a new candidate: John Smith, CFO at Helios Labs."
- "Log a call with the candidate — we discussed salary expectations and timeline."
- "Show me all my tasks for today."
- "Search for candidates with private equity experience in London."
Tool categories
The 27 tools are organised into five categories:
Candidates — Search, research, and retrieve full candidate profiles including intake notes, contact details, work history, and education.
Jobs & Pipeline — Search open roles, view job details, see all candidates on a pipeline with their current stage, and add candidates to jobs.
Activities & Tasks — View a candidate's full activity timeline, log completed calls and meetings, schedule future activities, and check today's tasks.
Companies & Data — Search and view company profiles, list agency users, and look up reference data like skillsets, source types, and person types.
Candidate Management — Create new candidate records, update existing profiles (tags, skillsets, sector, source type), and upload resumes.
